Throwback Flyers Set to Join the ABA in 2027

Indianapolis, IN.  The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Throwback Flyers (Waco TX) is set to begin play in the in 2027. 

The team is owned by Derrick Harris, a former ABA player with an 11-year international career spanning Germany, Slovakia, Croatia, Hungary, Luxembourg, Belgium and Portugal.

"Derrick has a tremendous background in basketball, in business and the community, stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. "His team and he will be a great addition to the ABA."

"My goal is to establish a professionally operated organization that combines competitive basketball with youth development, leadership training, educational outreach and meaningful community impact," added Harris. "Through initiatives such as Boys 2 Men Leadership Academy and Legacy Over Luxury, I have  developed programs focused on character development, leadership and financial literacy.  These experiences provide a strong foundation for building an organization that delivers value both on and off the court while strengthening community engagement."
