Houston Mavericks Added to 2027-28 Roster of Teams

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Houston Mavericks have been added to the growing roster of teams set to begin play in the 2027 season.

"It will be great to be back in Houston after a one-year hiatus," stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. "And in Thomas Williams we have a great new owner with experience on and off the court."

Thomas Williams is originally from Lake Charles LA and currently resides in Metro Houston. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge LA where he was an All Conference pitcher on the university's championship team. He was drafted in the 18th round of the MLB Draft in 1997 and spent 3 years in the farm system. After retiring from baseball, he had a 20 year career as a professional driver and currently works in marine logistics.

"I am very excited to be a part of the great ABA," added Williams, "and I'll do everything I can to make the league and city of Houston proud of the Mavericks. "
