The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Roanoke Rapids Pirates will begin play when the league resumes in November. “We are thrilled to have Greg Meeks and his team as part of the ABA,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “A great addition to the league and our expansion in North Carolina.”

The Roanoke Rapids Pirates are a competitive organization founded by Greg Meeks, who is dedicated to building a strong culture of discipline, teamwork and community pride. Based in Roanoke Rapids NC, the Pirates focus on developing talented athletes while providing exciting, high-level competition for fans. Committed to excellence on and off the court, the organization continues to grow as a respected name in minor league sports.

“As for me, I’ve had a strong passion for basketball most of my life, developing my game through years of playing, competing and studying the sport,” added Meeks. “My background includes experience in organized leagues, team development and leadership both on and off the court. I’ve always taken pride in my work ethic, discipline and ability to bring energy and focus to a team environment. Beyond playing, I’ve also been involved in building programs and creating opportunities for others to compete and grow through basketball. The game has shaped my mindset, teaching me accountability, teamwork and the importance of consistency in everything I do.”
