The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the New York Wolverines, located in Sullivan County NY, are set to begin play when the league resumes in November. “We are very pleased to have Verdon Hines and a great group of very experienced people as a part of the ABA,” stated ABA CEO. “Wolverine basketball is built on intensity, discipline and relentless effort. Just like the name suggests, they embody a tough, aggressive and never back down mindset both on and off the court. They will add much to our East Region.”
The NY Wolverine Basketball organization, in conjunction with Elite Kreations Inc. is a minority-owned community-driven program founded by Verdon Hines. Originally from Far Rockaway NY, Verdon built the organization to create opportunities for underserved athletes while developing future leaders on and off the court.
Ryan Hernandez plays a key role in advancing this mission using his knowledge of the game to elevate overlooked talent and provide second chances to those in need of opportunity.
Olivia Naclerio, VP of Basketball Operations and Marketing, leads game-day logistics, community engagement and player experiences, helping bridge the gap between sports and community through fan-focused growth.
“Together, the Wolverines are committed to empowerment, development and making a lasting impact beyond the game,” added Hines. “We are super pleased to be part of this legendary league.”
