The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that Imago Dei S.C. based in Denver CO has joined the ABA and will begin play in the upcoming season.
“Imago Dei S.C. follows a European-style club model that treats basketball as a vehicle for holistic development,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “Imago Dei positions itself to nurture young men through basketball, creating an environment where athletic ambition and spiritual formation reinforce each other rather than compete. Players are challenged to understand their identift beyond the court and to live out values rooted in faith. What a wonderful approach and great addition to the ABA.”
“This approach draws inspiration from iconic clubs like FC Barcelona, Ajex and Bayern Munich, “added Cameron Burney, team owner, “where the club functions as the heartbeat of a local community rather than a seasonal business. While still building its footprint, the Imago Dei Men’s Basketball Club represents a growing movement of faith-based athletics that refuses to treat sports as separate from life. By launching both a robust club model and an ABA professional team, the organization is creating a vertically integrated system that can support players through intentional development all the way into the pro ranks. The club’s stated mission captures it clearly: “We are not building a sports program; we are building a community that uses sport to restore what has been lost.”
A key pillar of the program is helping serious players build professional portfolios. Through long-term partnerships with GameOn (goaio.live) and FlowScout (flow-scout.com) Imago provides players with verifiable portfolios, including full game film, highlights and extensive stats that strengthen their resumes for the next level. With access to its recruiting pipeline, Imago Dei provides players with maximum visibility. Whether you’re a coach, player, parent, fan or recruit, Imago Dei invites everyone to see basketball through a different lens – one where excellence on the court points toward something greater off it.
